Getting hold of landlord insurance quotes

Monday, February 28th, 2011

If you look hard enough, you may just about see spring on the horizon. That means it’s the time of year when we typically start to plan the months ahead – and perhaps it is also a good time to start thinking about landlord insurance quotes.

If you are a landlord, you may already have some form of landlord insurance in place.

Perhaps that is providing you with cover for your buildings and contents. It may also be offering you a degree of landlord legal insurance against the risk of things such as third party liability legal claims.

So, if you already have that cover in place, why would you wish to start thinking about landlord insurance quotes?

Contrary to what you may believe, the prime driver for a review of your buy to let property insurance, may not be price alone. The fact is, even if you have held your insurance for only the past year or so, it may already have been superseded by other offers in the marketplace.

Landlord insurance products (and the insurance industry as a whole) tend to change fairly regularly. It may be that there are now policies in the marketplace that may be offering you broader cover than your current policy.

That is not something that you are likely to discover unless you start getting a few landlord insurance quotes and comparing them against your existing policy.

What are you likely to find?

That may be impossible to predict because it will depend so much upon your existing policy and your own personal circumstances as a landlord.

However, for example, you may find that there are policies available which may offer you improvements in the area of your landlord legal insurance, over and above that which you are currently protected against.

You may also find that some policies may cover your legal fees in certain situations or offer to cover you against the cost of malicious damage inflicted by your tenants.

Of course, the pounds and pennies cannot be ignored. It is also possible that you’ll find policies that are offering equal or even superior cover – and perhaps at a more cost-effective price then you are currently paying.

Landlord insurance quotes are typically easily obtained and easily understood. Finding a little time to look around and take a checkpoint, in terms of where you stand on your landlord insurance, might prove to be a worthwhile investment of an hour or two.
