The big freeze is guranteed to have an effect on all types of Property Insurance in 2011 and Landlords Insurance will be included.

Why?

2010 / 2009 saw a similar big freeze and the majority of Insurers delayed premium alterations as they hoped it would be a “one off”, the summer came and overall it was a good period with few claims.

However with the current big freeze Insurers across the Country have seen massive numbers of claims and added to last year’s experience they will have to take action and this is going to be in the form of rate increases and personally, I think we will see higher excesses and other new policy conditions as well.

It is important, as a Landlord, that you do everything you can to protect your investment, especially if the property is unoccupied.
